The Mercantile Community Partnership with the Early Learning Partnership
Reading with a young child is the single most important activity to prepare them for school.
Starting at birth, we make books more accessible to families and encourage reading daily with their child. The first years of a child’s life are the most critical. A child's development during those years will determine much of what they will be capable of the remainder of their life. We believe reading with a child will establish a stronger bond in the home, help build a more advanced vocabulary, and provide the building blocks children need to grow into successful adults.
ELP is working to ensure that young children in York County are ready to learn in school and in life. By mobilizing people, leveraging resources, and empowering social, emotional, and early literacy programs, ELP is preparing children, birth to age five, for school success. Reading with a preschool child is the single most important activity to prepare a child for school, that’s the ELP message.
